to get around the issue of a busy hallway with limited space, a walnut veneered bi-fold door was the solution. at the core a 24mm moisture resistant MDF was used and then 256 pieces of walnut veneer was cut and laid in a chevron pattern and all edges veneered to match. the chosen hardware is folding door kit herkules plus - by Mantion, which is a good kit, but chose to upgrade the supplied but-hinge with concealed soss hinges for slicker look. simple recessed stainless steel handles were installed and a leather strop pull handle on the opening side. above the door walnut boards was installed on both sides to conceal the runner mechanism.
