an unrealised bedroom alcove was turned into a floor-to-ceiling wardrobe. as the alcove was considerably deeper than the standard wardrobe, a number of shelves for occasional items were built at the back wall of the wardrobe; to make full use of the alcove depth. this left enough space for hanging rails in front of the shelves, with two rails on the left and one on the right for longer items. the floor of the wardrobe had enough head space for shoes etc. above the wardrobe two "deep storage" units were made with top-hung doors, to house seasonal and less frequently used items.
as the client wanted the wardrobes to fit in with the monochrome colour scheme of the room, MDF was the material of choice for all components. all exposed cut edges were edge banded to accept a better painted finish. the client picked out some stunning solid brass spherical handle that finish the wardrobes off beautifully. the result is a clean looking, practical wardrobe that makes the most of the available space.
