a little project exploring one of the absolute favourite materials, valchromat. the brief of making something with more than one function can be challenging, but also fun. the result is a stool with a seat height suitable for a bar, housing fold-out steps. the steps are bolted to the stool using rather snazzy black oxide wide head knurled bolts either side joined by a double sided connector nut running through the materials with a 3mm nylon spacer. this allows for effortless opening and closing of the steps, with a black oxide dowel providing a positive stop when closed.
a simple, but effective addition for the kitchen or as an aid in for hard to reach places.
